Is the name of
God "Jehovah"? |
AS I UNDERSTAND, the Bible does not have
conflicting teachings. Accepting that
Jehovah is the real name of God, please clarify the following: 1) Whoever shall worship
Jehovah, call on the name of Jehovah, and be called by the name
Jehovah, as in Jehovah's Witnesses, will be saved. 2) Whoever shall believe in one God, the Father,
and in Jesus Christ, the Mediator and Savior, as the Iglesia ni
Cristo does, will be saved.

Who is the
Creator? |
I HAVE BEEN bothered by a major
problem which started when I read a book advocating atheism.
This book influenced my beliefs to the point that I questioned
the existence of God.
Atheism really shook me and hurt me inside, for it made
me think that all the years of my life were worthless. Now, I am
thankful that after a long time of research and rationalization,
I am now able to prove to myself and to anyone that a Creator
absolutely exists.
But my personal crisis is not yet over. My major
problem now concerns discovering who the Creator really is. This
is the same problem discussed in the book, "Friend, You Are Not
God" written by Jagad Guru, which I was able to read. Isn't it
possible that: 1. You are, in reality, the Creator and you just
created the universe to be able to play in it? You deliberately
forgot your true identity to convince yourself that you are not
God because you want to play as a creature and not as a Creator;
2. Some intelligent beings from other galaxies created or
manipulated you and put you in this world to play with you or to
experiment on you?
The Bible says that God created the universe and
everything in it. I prefer this Bible theory (at least at
present) to the two other theories mentioned above because I
know it is nearer to the truth. At least this declaration by the
Bible is, say 90% possible compared to the two other theories
which are, say, only 10% possible. But I don't want to find
myself choosing the Bible's declaration just because it is the
best among the possible theories but because it is the
undeniable truth.
This is my problem. Although the Bible's statement is
nearer to the truth, the matter is I can't absolutely prove it.
Also, How can I serve my God with my whole heart, mind,
body, and soul if in the first place I have doubts on who He
really is?
I said that the Bible's statement is, say, 90%
possible. Hence, at least, I have a little faith in the biblical
passage. If you would call that faith, would a little faith like
mine be enough for me to be saved come Judgment Day?

Genesis 1:26
I John 5:7
John 10:30
"Don't these verses
imply that they are in fact one"?
|
THESE ARE SOME of the questions I have gathered
that assert that the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost are
one. The answers to these questions point to the existence of
the Holy Trinity. I was reading the Bible when I noticed that it
said in Genesis 1 ;26, "Let us make people in our image, to be
like ourselves". If God is the creator, who was God referring to in
the pronouns "us," "our," "ourselves" in the said verse? Don't these pronouns imply that
there was someone with God? Perhaps
The Word or the Holy Ghost? Because in I John 5:7 it said, "For
there are three that bear record in heaven, the
Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these
three are one." Also in St. John
10:30 it states, "I and the Father are one. "Don't these verses
imply that they are in fact one"?

Does
Matthew 28:19
refer to the Trinity or
Triune God? |
I WROTE TO ask for your explanation of the verse
Matthew 28:19 that says "Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and
make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit."
Could not the "the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit" mentioned here refer to the Holy Trinity?

Who 'created' God? |
I'M A FRESHMAN in college taking up a bachelor's
degree. During our breaks, my classmates and I often engage in
trivial as well us intellectual discussions. Some questions
at times enter our minds to which no one among us, not
even our professors, could give satisfactory and conclusive answers.
So I want to hear from your religion, who created God? Is it
possible for us to explain everything about God? And what proof does
the Bible offer that there exists a God?

1 John 5:7-8 -
The Johannine Comma dilemma |
I JOHN 5:7-8 says, "For there are three that
bear record in heaven, the father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and
these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth,
the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in
one" (King James Version),
Isn't this a clear proof that the teaching on
Trinity is indeed found in the Bible? How then do you explain I John
5:7-8?

"God said, 'You are Gods'"
(John 10:34-35) |
I UNDERSTAND THAT in the Church of Christ you
believe that the Father is the "only" true God (emphasis on the word
"only"). You publicly declare this in your sermons, magazines, and
even in your television programs. If it were true that
the Father is the only true God, why then did Jesus declare in John
10:34-35 (Good News Bible), "God said you are gods"? Doesn't this
mean that there exist other gods aside from the Father?

Many other god's
(Psalms 82:1, 6) |
IF THE FATHER is the only God as you claim, then
why is it written in Psalms 82:l, 6 that "He - judges among the
gods'' and "you are gods'? And besides, what difference does
it make if there are many true gods? Wouldn't it be better if there
would be many gods? As the old adage goes, "the more the merrier?

Are Christ and Jehovah
one and the same God?
(Genesis 17:1) |
I BELIEVE THAT 'there is only one true God; He is invisible and His name is Jehovah or Yahweh.
Although I do not believe in the Trinity, I believe that Christ is
God incarnate or else who would the Bible be referring to as
Jehovah Who appeared Himself
to Abraham in Genesis 17:1?

God is
everywhere
(Jeremiah 23:23) |
THE TEACHING THAT God is everywhere is against the
Bible. If God were everywhere, He must also be in beer houses,
prostitution dens, and crack houses. In Matthew 6:9, Jesus
said in His prayer that God is in heaven.
Isn't it that God is in heaven and not in places where there is
immorality?

"you are a man,
and not a god"
(Ezekiel 28:2) |
IN REJECTING THE "hypostatic union" or the
doctrine of the Bible stating that Christ is both man and God, you
cite Ezekiel 28:2 in which God said to the Prince of Tyre, "you are
a man, and not a god." I believe that this verse is
impertinent to the issue, for it is clear that God here was
talking to the Prince of Tyre, and not to the Lord Jesus Christ.
What applies to the Prince of Tyre does not automatically apply to
Christ. Remember that the statement of the Bible that "all
hare sinned" (Rom, 5:12) applies to all men except to Jesus, for He
has not sinned (I Ft 2:21-22)How sure are you, then, that God's
statement "you are a man, and not a god" applies to Christ?

What is the
difference between God and Lord? |
LAST JANUARY AND February, I received copies of
Pasugo (God's Message) from Ms. Judith Brani, a member of your
Church, Iglesia ni Cristo, in Naval, Biliran Province. Since
then, I have become an avid reader of your magazine and even a
regular listener to your radio programs.
I would like to know your answers to the following questions which
have been confusing me:
1. What is the difference between God and Lord?
2. Other groups declare that Jesus the only one God. But other
groups say that God has three appearances.
3. What is the difference between soul and spirit?
4. Why is it that during baptism, some religions simply sprinkle
water on the individual instead of immersing him?
