On joining or becoming a member of
the Iglesia ni Cristo

Letter to the Editor:
PASUGO, Date 2000, p.2

I AM AN inactive and dissatisfied Catholic who has been seeking the true religion that will lead   me to the right path.

When I read the articles of Pasugo, especially the section wherein some people shared their  experiences about their former religions and how they became members of the Iglesia ni Cristo, I was convinced that the Iglesia ni Cristo is the true Church. Their experiences opened my eyes to the truth.

I now want to become a member of your Church.  But I know it is not easy for one like me who has been a Catholic since childhood to join the Iglesia ni Cristo.

What steps should I take in joining the Iglesia ni Cristo?

Maribel A. Casulucan
Laguna, Philippines

Editor's reply:

Welcome to the Iglesia ni Cristo!    To join this Church, go to the locale nearest your place and see the assigned minister who will conduct the Bible study on doctrines for you. He will also be your guide until you receive holy baptism.

May God be with you in your quest for the truth.

Additional information:

Are you interested or contemplating to join or become a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo
or just plain curious about the Iglesia ni Cristo?

You are welcome!
Take a closer look at the Iglesia ni Cristo today.
You are free to study, examine and compare the doctrines and beliefs of the Iglesia ni Cristo before you decide to join it or not.

1.  You may attend and observe the worship service of the church on your own, even if you don't know anybody. Ask a Deacon or Deaconess in the lobby so he/she can guide you properly. Better still,  ask an INC friend or relative to accompany you to a INC chapel nearest your place. Normally, worship services are scheduled every Wednesday/ Thursday and Saturday/Sunday.

2.  Ask for copies of Pasugo/ God's Message Magazine for you to study. Ask for it from an INC friend or relative or from any officer in the church. They would be very happy to give it to you.

3.  You may attend the Pamamahayag or Evangelical Mission of the church, just ask an INC friend or relative so he/she can inform you about the schedule.

4.  If you wanted to know more, you may attend the Bible study on doctrines or doktrina. Just ask an INC friend or relative, he/she will gladly accompany you to place of activity. The lesson will be taught by a Minister or an Evangelical Worker. You are free to take notes so you can study the lesson at home. After the lesson, you are free to ask questions.

5.  If you have pressing questions and/or concerns about the church that need to be answered, ask an INC friend or relative to accompany you to the office of the locale Minister or Evangelical Worker who can answer your questions.

6.  Unlike many religions, the Iglesia ni Cristo strictly follows the teachings of Christ on who should be baptized, thus:

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16: 15-16, NKJV)

The church do not baptize infants or children as they do not yet have the the faculty to comprehend and believe in the gospel that is to be preached to them. You must be at least 12 years old to join the church.

Everyone is welcome!

You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain by undergoing the Bible study.
You will come to learn and understand the unadulterated teachings of the Holy Bible.
All lessons are in simple Question and Answer format. "All questions are answered by the verses of the Holy Bible. No personal opinions or suppositions."

Undergoing the Bible studies does not mean that you will automatically join or become a member of the church - Iglesia ni Cristo.
"No one is forced to join the the Church"

What to expect:

•  You will have to listen, understand and come to believe the Gospel of Christ
taught in the 28 Bible lessons.
"You are free to take notes, ask questions, and clarify what is being taught.
You are free to bring your own Bible if you wanted to."

•  You have to pass the preliminary and final screening to make sure that
you truly understood the lessons.

•  You will have to undergo a 6-months probationary period wherein
you expected to apply and follow what you learned.

After complying all the above, you will be scheduled for baptism.

Welcome!
