Examine the Verse
Acts 2:22
This verse is claimed to
provide the basis of the Iglesia ni Cristo
belief that
as the Son of God, "Jesus is Man" in
nature and state of being.
|
“Men of Israel, hear these
words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God
to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through
Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—
(Acts 2:22, New King James
Version) |
|
|
You men of Israel, listen to what I
have to say: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man accredited and
pointed out and shown forth and commended and attested to
you by God by the mighty works and [the power of
performing] wonders and signs which God worked through Him
[right] in your midst, as you yourselves know
(Acts 2:22, Amplified Bible) |

Iglesia ni Cristo belief in God and
Jesus Christ:
Iglesia
ni Cristo believes in the absolute oneness
of God, that "the
Only True God is the Father" in heaven; The Father is the Lord God Almighty, the
Creator of all things. God is Spirit, eternal, immortal and invisible; He is the
God and Father of Jesus Christ and His Apostles; and that of
Moses,
Abraham and the ancient Israelites.
Iglesia ni
Cristo believes that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God. As the Son
of God,
Jesus is a
Man.
However, Jesus is not an ordinary man but a "very special Man",
who was sanctified; made
Lord, Christ, Savior, Mediator and Judge by God. |

Apostle's admonition, warning and
unique way of teaching:
1.
No prophecy of scripture is a matter of personal
interpretation. (II Pt. 1:20, NAB)
2. Do not go beyond what
is written. (I
Cor. 4:6, NIV)
3.
We do not use words of human wisdom. We speak words given to
us by the Spirit,
using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths. (1
Cor. 2:13, NLT) |

Points to Consider: |
|
|
1.
Notice that it is Apostle Peter who is speaking in the above
verse as this is written in verse 14: But Peter
stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and
proclaimed to them: “Men of Judah and all you residents of
Jerusalem, let me explain this to you and pay attention to
my words.
2. In the above verse, Apostle Peter clearly declared:
“Men of Israel, hear these
words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God
to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through
Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know". Thus,
in clear unmistakably words, Apostle Peter declared
Jesus is a Man attested by God; or approved of by God; or
accredited by God.
3. Please note very carefully that "Jesus
is a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and
signs which God did through Him".
Thus, Jesus is not God Himself. The
fact that God did the miracles wonders and signs through
Jesus proves that Jesus is really a Man and not God. |
