Examine the Verse
John 10:36
This verse is claimed to
provide the basis of the Iglesia ni Cristo belief
that
Jesus is not an
ordinary man but a very special Man,
who was sanctified; made Lord, Christ, Savior, Mediator and Judge by God.
|
do you say of Him whom the
Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are
blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?
(John 10:36, New King James Version) |
|
|
So how can you say
that the one whom the Father has made holy and sent
into the world insults God because he said, ‘I am
God’s Son’?
(John 10:36, Simple English Bible) |
|
|
[If that is true] do you say of the
One Whom the Father consecrated and
dedicated and set apart for Himself and sent into the world,
You are blaspheming, because I said, I am the Son of God?
(John 10:36, Amplified Bible) |

Iglesia ni Cristo belief in God and
Jesus Christ:
Iglesia
ni Cristo believes in the absolute oneness
of God, that "the
Only True God is the Father" in heaven; The Father is the Lord God Almighty, the
Creator of all things. God is Spirit, eternal, immortal and invisible; He is the
God and Father of Jesus Christ and His Apostles; and that of
Moses,
Abraham and the ancient Israelites.
Iglesia ni
Cristo believes that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God. As the Son
of God,
Jesus is a
Man.
However, Jesus is not an ordinary man but a "very special Man",
who was sanctified; made
Lord, Christ, Savior, Mediator and Judge by God. |

Apostle's admonition, warning and
unique way of teaching:
1.
No prophecy of scripture is a matter of personal
interpretation. (II Pt. 1:20, NAB)
2. Do not go beyond what
is written. (I
Cor. 4:6, NIV)
3.
We do not use words of human wisdom. We speak words given to
us by the Spirit,
using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths. (1
Cor. 2:13, NLT) |
|
|
Points to Consider: |
|
|
1.
Notice that in the Lord Jesus Christ was Himself speaking in
the above verse. The above verse clearly say that, "whom
the Father sanctified (made holy or consecrated) and sent
into the world".
2.
Please note very carefully,
that Jesus was sanctified or made
holy or consecrated by the Father and sent into the world.
Thus,
Jesus is distinct or a separate being from the Father, who
sanctified Him or made Him holy.
3. THEREFORE, Jesus is not God or God himself but a very
special Man who committed no sin (1
Peter 2:22). Being sanctified by God or
being made holy by God is proof enough that Jesus is a Man―not
God, because God is inherently holy.
